Dallas’ The Mexican Makes The List As One Of The World’s Most Beautiful Restaurants

The Mexican restaurant in the Design District of Dallas joined other luxurious North American meal spots in New York and Mexico City to receive the Prix Versailles award, putting them on the map as a part of the World’s Most Beautiful Restaurants.

Others in the 2023 category receiving this honor at the World Architecture and Design competition by UNESCO include the Dior Montaigne in Paris and the South Eveleigh Locomotive Workshop in Australia.

Meet The Mexican

For a restaurant that opened in 2022, The Mexican has quickly snagged a prestigious accolade. The top-class spot is owned by entrepreneur Roberto González Alcalá whose goal is to provide a state-of-the-art Mexican experience in Dallas through food. They will be expanding to another part of Texas in 2026 at Houston’s Four Oaks Place.

The menu boasts lobster elote, wagyu tomahawk ribeye, beef tenderloin taco and more Mexican cuisine. Restaurant-goers are greeted by towering double doors at the entrance, polite staff, and a simplistic but avant-garde interior featuring impressive furniture.

The Inspiration Behind The Mexican

Mexican designer Paulina Moran— who is responsible for the interior design at the Chablé Hotels, did a good job at portraying Roberto’s Monterrey roots by sourcing the art and decor materials from there. Moran noted during the launch that The Mexican is not just a meal spot, but also an opportunity to reflect the richness of culture.

True to Moran’s words, the black clay skulls on the restaurant patio and terrace are a tribute to the Day of the Dead, which is a Mexican traditional holiday usually at the end of the year celebrating deceased friends and family. Reserving a spot at The Mexican is no easy business, proving the outlet’s appeal to the elite in Dallas.
